Trusty disappears in Opelousas

St Landry Sheriff’s Office is looking for inmate Barry Butler, who was assigned as a trusty at the office’s service station on the west side of Opelousas and walked off the property. He was serving time for traffic charges, flight charges and felon in possession of a firearm.

Rita Faul Hebert

Rita Faul Hebert passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at the age of 82. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 10, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Quirk and Son Funeral Home in Eunice. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette. Deacon Gary Gaudin will officiate.

Eunice woman arrested for fatal crash

Karmen Lomas, a 46-year-old Eunice woman, was arrested in connection with a crash that took the life of Gregory Leger, 24, of Rayne, according to a Louisiana State Police Troop I news release. The crash occurred on May 13 on La. 13 near Schultz Road in Acadia Parish.
