St. Landry Crime Stoppers Awards Banquet

The 11th Annual St. Landry Crime Stoppers Awards Banquet was held at Rocky’s Cajun Cafe in Eunice. Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux awarded officers and deputies. Those presented awards included the following. Officer of the Year — Lt. Alex Savoie.

DeJean farm earns Century Farm status

Patrick DeJean’s family, past and present included, knows how to hold onto things, including precious mementos of family history and especially farmland. Patrick DeJean, of Plaisance, said, “In 1929, W.C. DeJean, my grandfather, was named a Master Farmer of Louisiana by the State.

Bourque honored during banquet

It wasn’t so much a retirement party as it was a “thank you” banquet when Superintendent John Bourque was surprised by school board staff and personnel — past and present — July 11 at the Acadia Parish Alternative Education Center.

Kops & Kids hunting/fishing camp planned

The 28th boys Kops & Kids hunting/fishing and camping adventure is scheduled for Aug. 25 and 26. The camp is located in St. Landry Parish with sleeping accommodations and is chaperoned by full-time law enforcement officers.
