The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment. The show is in limbo for Saturday after lightning knocked out the fire alarm panel. Repairs are under way but may not ocurr in time for Saturday’s show.

Allegiance Health Management (AHM) has finalized the purchase of three hospitals in Louisiana from subsidiaries of Tennessee-based LifePoint Health: — Mercy Regional Medical Center of Ville Platte. — Acadian Medical Center (a campus of Mercy Regional) of Eunice. — Minden Medical Center of Minden.

Panel to study school employee dress code

A dress code for St. Landry Parish school employees that likely dates to the early 1990s may be updated after a committee’s study. Superintendent Patrick Jenkins said the policy update may include termination for violating the dress code.

Students allowed bulletproof backpacks at school

Bulletproof backpacks will be allowed in St. Landry Parish public schools and on buses, but it will continue to be against district policy for students to wear body armor. The bulletproof backpacks were approved by the Legislature.
