The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. June 1 Desmond Terrell Jason, 41, 900 block of East Sandoz Street, Opelousas. Seven counts of simple battery; sexual battery; possession of Schedule II drugs; possession of Schedule I CDS; possession of Schedule IV drugs.

Acadia deputies arrest on heroin charge

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division deputies arrested a man who has ties to the Iota area for distribution of heroin, according to Sheriff KP Gibson. The arrest was made in the Basile area of Acadia Parish.

Summer feeding site opens Monday in Eunice

Starting Monday Highland Elementary will be a site for the St. Landry Parish School Board Child Nutrition Department’s Summer Food Service Program. The program is offered free to any child 18 years and younger.

Senate panel raises revenue

With the clock ticking down, a Senate committee on Wednesday amended a House Republican bill to sharply increase the revenue that it would raise to $642 million from $365 million to address a looming budget shortfall.

Memorial Day: Eunice observes tribute to fallen warriors

A Memorial Day service was held at 5 p.m. Monday at the corner of Park Avenue and 2nd Street in Eunice. The annual event was sponsored by the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of the Foreign Wars, Doucet-Aucoin Post 8971 and the American Legion Post 129 Turner-Mornhinveg Moore.
