Sheriff: Man caught with drugs in home search

A 27-year-old Morgan City man was jailed on drug charges after St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputies searched his home and found him inside smoking a synthetic cannabinoid cigar, Sheriff Scott Anslum said in a news release.

Police called to disturbance and discover it is something more

Eunice Police were called to a disturbance in the 1000 block of West Park Avenue at nearly midnight Sunday. There was also a report of a knife involved in the disturbance. Eunice Police Lt. Ryan Young said an officer arrived and there was no active disturbance.

A new control system for the Acadia Parish Jail will be considered when the Acadia Parish Police Jury meets in regular session here Wednesday. Sheriff K.P. Gibson appeared before the jury’s Finance Committee Wednesday night to request funding for the new system.

Body found under U.S. 90 bridge in Morgan City

Morgan City police discovered a deceased male subject Tuesday morning under the U.S. 90 bridge in the area of Greenwood Street, Police Spokesman Lt. John Schaff said. Police are investigating the death, but, as of 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, did not expect foul play was involved in the death, Schaff said.
