Tri-parish vote echoes state, district results

Vote counts in state and district elections in the Tri-parish area tracked the totals in Saturday’s voting. State Treasurer John Kennedy won the U.S. Senate post left open by the retirement of Sen. David Vitter.

Eunice native, LSUE grad Burney to speak at commencement

Pete Burney, an LSU Eunice graduate and retired vice president at Hallmark Cards, will be the commencement speaker when Louisiana State University Eunice holds fall graduation ceremonies at 10 a.m. Friday in the gymnasium of the Health and Physical Education Building.

Cynthia Ann Pelican Lucas passed away on Monday December 12, 2016 at the age of 55. Cynthia is survived by her fiance, Clemmon "June" Durgan of Chataignier, one son, Bobby Lucas of Arizona; one daughter, Piper Lucas of Eunice; one brother, Eugene Pelican Jr.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office arrests

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. Dec. 9 William Dwayne Smith, 33, 2700 block of Railroad Street, Basile. Possession of Schedule 4 controlled dangerous substance (diazepam), possession of Schedule 4 controlled dangerous substance (Xanex), and six counts of possession of legend drugs.

EHS senior project Toy Drive underway Eunice High School seniors Cameron Fontenot and Taneisha Chavis are collecting toys for a Toy Drive through Dec. 20. All toys can be brought by Eunice High School. Holiday Sing-along in Eunice A Holiday Sing-along is planned from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
