Eunice is top tourist destination in the parish

Eunice, especially at Mardi Gras, is one of the top tourist destinations in St. Landry Parish. Herman Fuselier, St. Landry Parish Tourist Commission executive director, told the St. Landry Parish Council that on Mardi Gras day there were 11,300 people in downtown Eunice.

Eunice Police voted 2% pay raise

All 38 Eunice Police Department employees are receiving a 2% pay raise following Tuesday’s city council meeting. Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot explained, “The chief and I have been discussing some things to recruit and retain officers in the police department.

The St. Landry Parish Correctional Center comes to Crime Stoppers and requests help in locating an escaped inmate. On June 12, 2024, while on litter abatement detail, Richard Louis Deville escaped custody in the area of Laurel Street near Eunice Poultry. Deville is a black male, 5’11’’, 140 lbs.

Arrest made in 30-year-old sex crimes in Lawtell area

A 74-yar-old man is charged with a sex crimes that occurred 30 years ago in the Lawtell area, St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz reported. Felton Gregory Leday, of the 9700 block of U.S. 190, Opelousas, is charged with one count of first-degree rape and three counts of sexual battery.
