The dread of daylight saving time

Springing forward or falling back, daylight saving time was something my father always dreaded. Having to reset all the clocks in his house behind or ahead by an hour twice a year meant he had a lot of work to do — and he didn’t enjoy doing it. The chief cause of his pain was my mother.

Evangeline Parish registrar of voters busted

Evangeline Parish Registrar of Voters Ashton Lucas Buller was arrested in Avoyelles Parish, for charges of operating a vehicle while impaired and possession of schedule II CDS. Avoyelles Parish District Attorney Charles Riddle confirmed the arrest and the charges on Oct. 14.

Parish president wants to lock down jail costs

The St. Landry Parish Council agreed with Parish President Jessie Bellard to allow him and his attorney to seek a resolution about jail costs possibly in a declaratory judgment.

Louisiana faces key tax policy decisions

One of the key figures in crafting a new tax policy for Louisiana, Rep. Julie Emerson, said “... the tax system is something that has really been needing reform, for a very, very long time.” Emerson spoke about those reforms to the Eunice Rotary Club meeting at LSUE on Wednesday.
