EUNICE-It is with deep sorrow that the family of Brent Charles Lanthier announces his unexpected passing on November 28, 2024.  Born on November 26, 1982, Brent was brought into this world on Thanksgiving Day and our Lord called him home on Thanksgiving Day, 42 years later.

Joseph W. Pitre Jr.

EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joseph W. Pitre, Jr. announces his passing on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the Acadian Medical Center at the age of 81. A private graveside service will be held at a later time.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Thursday, Nov. 28-Monday, Dec. 2 Keirsten Deshun White, 31, 100 block of Jackie Drive, Opelousas.

Eunice Police: 16-year-old charged with 3 counts of attempted first-degree murder

A 16-year-old male is charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder in connection with a shooting on Nov. 27 in the 500 block of South 2nd Street in Eunice. Eunice Police Chief Kyle LeBouef stated police were dispatched to the scene at 1:07 p.m.

Early voting continues on Saturday Early voting for the Dec. 7 election continues through Saturday, excluding Thanksgiving and Friday, which is observed as Acadian Day, according to Byron Stelly, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters. Voting hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
