Former Grand Coteau Police Chief Jeffery Guilbeau was convicted on June 11 of three felony charges in connection with his employment with the City of Grand Coteau, according to a news release from St. Landry Parish District Attorney Chad Pitre.

McNeese rodeo team is going to the College National Finals Rodeo

The McNeese State University men’s rodeo team is the champion of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association’s (NIRA) Southern Region for the third year in a row.

Sewer plant heads to showdown

A sewer plant built to assist development along Interstate 49 in the Opelousas area appears headed to a showdown at the next St. Landry Parish Council meeting. The issue is whether or not the plant’s ownership can be transferred to the City of Opelousas.

Tips sought about burglary at Louisiana Crane

St. Landry Crime Stoppers is requesting the public’s help in solving a burglary at Louisiana Crane. St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to the burglary at 1045 Highway 190 on June 3. An employee stated that a building, as well as multiple vehicles and cranes, had been burglarized.
