Linda Faye Robert passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the age of 54. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Word Ministries with Pastor Caleb Semien officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

The following are excerpts from the Eunice Police Department radio dispatch logs. Thursday, May 30 12:22 a.m. Patroling in the area of University Place. 1:36 a.m. Caller in the 800 block of South Beulah said his daughter is starting to act out and now is throwing things around. 2:09 a.m.

While the Asian longhorned tick has yet to be sighted in Louisiana, LSU AgCenter entomologist Kristen Healy would like the public to remain vigilant in keeping an eye out for this and other species. To better understand where certain species live, Healy and her team have developed the website geaux-ticks.org, where people can send in photos or specimens of ticks they may encounter.

With summer comes outdoor activities and the possibility of encountering ticks and the diseases they carry. To determine which species may be common to a particular location in Louisiana, an LSU AgCenter researcher and her team have developed an online tool to assist in locating the bloodsuckers.

The same essential element of turmeric that works well as an anti-inflammatory also helps garden plants. Turmeric aids in healing stems or trunks damaged by storms or die-back disease as well as cuts from grafting. To treat a broken or cut stem, mix turmeric powder with water to make a thick paste.
