Belly Buddies Color Fun Run set April 13 There will be a Belly Buddies Color Fun Run in downtown Eunice from 10 a.m. until noon on April 13. All proceeds will go to Belly Buddies, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide food to Eunice’s most vulnerable students.

Legislative Rural Caucus announces officers

The Louisiana Legislative Rural Caucus elected its 2024-25 officers, selecting Rep. Rhonda Butler, R-Ville Platte, as chairwoman. Additionally, the caucus announces the elections of Rep. Travis Johnson, D-Vidalia, as vice chairman and Rep. Jason Dewitt, R-Boyce, as secretary/treasurer.

Lee Kleinpeter inducted into Louisiana Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame

The Louisiana Association of Broadcasters inducted longtime KRVS 88.7 FM program host Lee Kleinpeter into its Hall of Fame on March 22. The organization honored Kleinpeter during its 2024 Prestige Awards ceremony, a little over a year after he passed away at age 73.

Comeaux, longest serving Church Point councilman, dies

By Claudette Olivier Church Point News Church Point's longest serving Alderman Erroll “Slu” Comeaux, 76, has passed away. Comeaaux, a native of Cankton, and long-time resident of Church Point, passed away Saturday evening, March 23, at Ochsner Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette.

Acadia Parish school superintendent Richard to leave

Following an executive session held during the March 19 special meeting of the Acadia Parish School Board, it was announced that the search would begin for a new superintendent.

Firefighters rescue man from rice bin

Firefighters rescued a man after he fell into a rice bin at North CC Duson and East Vine, according to Eunice Fire Chief Chaise Brown. The incident occurred at 6:49 p.m. Tuesday. Firefighters from Eunice, St. Landry District 6, and Acadia District 4 were at the scene.
