EUNICE –Roland Bordelon, a dedicated father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.

Sheriff: Opelousas police chief and his wife wounded

Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, according to a news release from his office, is confirming that his office is investigating a shooting involving Opelousas Police Chief Graig “Twin” LeBlanc and his wife Captain Crystal Leblanc with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff Office.

LSU awards 1,931 degrees during Fall Commencement

LSU awarded 1,931 degrees during the university’s 312th commencement exercises Dec. 15. 1,313 students earned undergraduate degrees or certificates and 618 received graduate degrees or certificates. Twenty-three LSU employees were among the graduates.

Amaryllis present stunning blooms

Each year, the National Garden Bureau designates a specific plant to celebrate each year. The goal is to promote awareness, education and appreciation for that particular plant — and this year, one of the selections is amaryllis.

LSUE food chief says service to expand

LSU Eunice’s dining hall is open to the public as well as its’ students. The dining hall operates from 7:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday it is opened from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. A Starbucks station is opened Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
