The endless college football bowl season is upon us. Beginning last weekend with the Mrytle Beach Bowl, and mercifully ending on January 8 with the College Football Playoff National Championship game, 43 games will be played.

Parish Council OKs $4,800 raise for its members

The St. Landry Parish Council approved a $4,800 a year raise for its members at its last regular meeting of the year on Wednesday. The raise is to begin on Jan. 1, 2025, and will increase the annual pay from $12,672 to $17,472.

Murder suspect found dead

A 33-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting on Corn Street on Dec. 15. Police Chief Kyle LeBouef also reported that on Wednesday shooting suspect Aaron Jones was found dead by a family member due to an apparent suicide.

LSU Eunice Chancellor’s List named for Fall 2023 semester

Louisiana State University Eunice has named 412 students to its Chancellor’s List for the Fall 2023 Semester. Students must have full-time status, completing more than 12 credit hours, and maintain at least a 3.5 grade point average.
