Council discusses cockfighting

By Bobby Ardoin Eunice News Correspondent Although it has been declared illegal in every state, a St. Landry Parish Council committee voted unanimously on Wednesday night to conduct a discussion about cockfighting during the next scheduled Council meeting on Jan. 21.

Eunice Police Arrests report

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Wednesday, Jan. 7 Jonathan Mason, 50, 100 block of North Beulah, Eunice. Unauthorized entry, simple assault.

Andrew Fuselier

Andrew Fuselier, age 86, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father John Dugas Celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Paul Mausoleum.

Dudley Joseph Pitre

EUNICE-Funeral services for Dudley Joseph Pitre, 91, will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Mathilda Catholic Church in Eunice, LA with the visitation observed from 8 a.m. until service time in Bishop Ceasar Hall. Burial will be in St. Mathilda C. C. Cemetery.
