Separated by a door and perspectives, a routine arrest turned deadly in 1973

By Myracle Lewis, Amelia Gabor and Birdie O’Connell LSU Manship School News Service First of two stories On a hot, quiet morning in July 1973, 21-year-old Milton Scott heard a loud knock at his door. Scott was lying in bed with his pregnant wife, Beverly, and their 2-year-old daughter, Andrea.
The Food Network’s “BBQ USA” TV show will feature UL Lafayette’s Office of Veteran and Military Student Services’ signature fundraising event – Operation Smoke Sheaux. UL Lafayette student military members, veterans to ‘smoke out’ Food Network’s “BBQ USA” TV show

For a competition that literally goes up in smoke every year, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Office of Veteran and Military Student Services’ signature fundraising event has proven an overwhelming success. The Food Network TV show “BBQ USA” agrees.

Suncredible Saturn sunflower named summer 2023 Louisiana Super Plant

By Heather Kirk-Ballard LSU AgCenter Horticulturist Admired for its striking appearance, impressive size and dogged resilience, the Suncredible sunflower (Helianthus hybrid) is a cultivar that has captured the hearts of gardeners and nature enthusiasts alike.
Shouts and cries of “Justice for Brittany,” and “No justice No Peace,” echoed around the courthouse on Thursday, July 13, as family members and friends gathered for a peaceful protest. The protest took place 90 days after Brittany Fontenot was found dead in her home in the Chataignier area.  The death was ruled a suicide, but the victim’s loved ones claim Fontenot was shot multiple times with multiple guns.
