Hurricane claims from 2020 reach $10B

The amount of money that insurers expect to pay for the 2020 hurricanes continues to grow, albeit more slowly, as Louisiana gets further away from last year’s historic storm season, according to state Insurance Commissioner James Donelon.

Drainage canal cleaned

Crews were out Wednesday cleaning the concrete portion of the drainage canal that begins south of Laurel Avenue at Nimitz Street, Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot said the canal drains the U.S. 190 area.

Ida spared St. Landry Parish

St. Landry Parish President Jessie Bellard said, “We are prepared for the worst and hoping for the best” as Hurricane Ida approached.
