The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. July 14 Johnny Dwayne Neely, 58, 100 block of Phillips Loop, Palmetto. Attempted second degree murder, hate crimes, home invasion, bench warrant. Arrested by Melville Police.

Acadia Parish superintendent’s contract extension denied

After a nearly 30-minute executive session, members of the Acadia Parish School Board Tuesday night failed to pass a motion to extend the superintendent’s contract. The vote was 4-4, resulting in a “no action,” according to legal counsel Jon Guice.

Rayne man arrested on child porn, sex charges

A Rayne man has been arrested on multiple charges of inappropriate behavior with juveniles. Dustin Prior, 29, was arrested by the deputies with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office after an investigation that began June 28, according to Sheriff K.P. Gibson.
