Hotel occupancy tax proposed

A hotel occupancy tax proposal is to be introduced at the August Eunice Board of Aldermen meeting.
Mayor Scott Fontenot announced the proposal at Tuesday’s city meeting. The tax revenue would go to tourism and recreation, he said after the meeting.

Parish sales tax collections up 3% over last year

St. Landry Parish sales tax collections posted a 3% increase year-to-date increase in June over the same six-month period in 2022.
Collections through June totaled $46,422,747, up $1,359,259 over the six-month total in 2022, according to statistics released by the St.

School Board OKs staff for personnel office

In a special meeting on Monday, the St. Landry Parish School Board approved hiring a second coordinator of personnel recruitment if a study finds it is needed and if funds are available.
