France and Louisiana. Good news!

My family and I are currently on an extended vacation to Paris and Provence in central France. Relations with our country never have seemed better. Our welcome was quite warm everywhere we traveled.

ECCBC Summer Concert set July 13, 14

The Eunice Community Concert Concert Band & Community Choir will have its Summer Concert, “Summertime” at 7 p.m. July 13 and 14 at First Baptist Church in Eunice. ECCBC promises a musically diverse program with something for everyone in the family.

State DOTD announces bid results

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that 22 projects around the state received bids in May. Nineteen contractors presented apparent low bids totaling $217.3 million.

Acadiana Juvenile Justice District bill signed

The nine-parish Acadiana Regional Juvenile Justice District is a reality. Gov. John Bel Edwards signed Act 166 into law Monday creating the district as a political subdivision of the state.

Police pay raise OK’d with city budget

Eunice police and firefighters help fill the room as the Eunice Board of Aldermen approved a pay raise for police and a new fire chief at Tuesday’s meeting Mayor Scott Fontenot said Wednesday he plans to sign the pay raise into effect on June 25 when the next pay period begins.

Parish’s Head Start loss isn’t a complete surprise

St. Landry Parish School Board’s loss of the Head Start program announced June 8 was not a complete surprise. The School Board had been told it faced “recompetition” in March for the $9 million federal program.
