The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. April 29-May 1 Dan Charles, 54, 300 block of Henry Drive, Opelousas. DWI 1st offense, careless operation of a motor vehicle, open alcoholic container. Arrested by Louisiana State Police.

Bicyclist sStruck and killed in hit-and-run crash in St. Landry Parish

Shortly after 3:15 p.m., on April 30, troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I were notified of a hit-and-run crash involving a bicyclist that occurred in the 2600 block of Louisiana Highway 93 in the Sunset area. The crash claimed the life of 59-year-old Randy Thibodeaux of Sunset.

Dorsey John Thibodeaux passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the age of 89. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Father Ed Duhon Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Unrestrained Gueydan man dies in Acadia Parish crash

Shortly before 11:30 p.m. on April 28,Louisiana State Police Troop I were notified of a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 91 near Sandpiper Road in Acadia Parish. The crash took the life of 42-year-old Chad Andrew Breaux of Gueydan.

Police were baffled after someone used a cutting torch to open the vault in a store in the LaHaye building in Ville Platte early in the morning of June 21, 1962. The culprits got away with $20,000 — which may still be the biggest robbery ever in Evangeline Parish.

Information sought in shooting of 2 donkeys

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies need help to in animal cruelty case. Deputies are investigating a senseless act of cruelty which occurred on April 17 on Soldier Road near Mire. Two donkeys were discovered to have been shot within the property that they were kept.
