Sheriff reports on successes, challenges

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz was the guest speaker at the Eunice Rotary Club Wednesday. Guidroz brought along with him District Attorney Chad Pitre. Guidroz provided a 2022 annual report for the Rotarians. Guidroz is proud of a new complex building. He discussed the St.

Ivory promoted to deputy chief

Jeremy Ivory has been promoted to deputy chief of the Eunice Police Department. The Eunice Board of Aldermen approved the promotion of Ivory from lieutenant to deputy chief at its Feb. 14 meeting. Ivory, 44, may be the youngest officer to hold the department’s second highest job after police chief.

School Board hears again how critical tax renewals are

St. Landry Parish School Board members heard again how critical renewing two property taxes are for the district’s finances. John Mayeaux, a financial consultant with Sisung Group, and bond attorney Eric Lafleur repeated the tax renewals are crucial at a special meeting Wednesday.

Concealed carry permit class Saturday The St Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a one day concealed carry permit training class on at 211 West Park in Eunice beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday. The course is $100 and $80 for a spouse or renewal.
