Acadia Parish fugitive last lived in Lawtell area

The Duson Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance with locating Kevin Blanchard II. Blanchard is wanted for burglary and felony theft. Warrants have been issued for his arrest. Blanchard is described as a white male, 28 years of age. He is 5’9” in height and weighs 211 pounds.
St. Mathilda Catholic Church held its Ash Wednesday fish dinners fundraiser Wednesday with pick up at the Bishop Ceaser Center. School Board may ban hoodies

The St. Landry Parish School Board may ban hoodies from its campuses and events including athletic events. The ban is proposed as an addition to the school system’s dress code introduced at a Committee of the Whole Meeting on Thursday. Dwanetta Scott.

2 teens wounded in shootings

A 16-year-old male was shot at least three times while walking in the 200 block of North Vivian on Thursday. Eunice Police Chief Kyle LeBouef said the shots came from a vehicle that traveled away on Amazon Street. The victim underwent surgery and is expected to survive, he stated in a news release.

Madeline Cormier Jones passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the age of 74. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Monday, February 27, 2023 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Father Sam Fontana Celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

5-day Mardi Gras party draws crowds to Eunice

Alicia Mire is the city and parish tourism official and on Tuesday by the music stage talked about the five-day Eunice Mardi Gras celebration. “I didn’t know half the crowd that was here and our street was packed. That means that was tourists — people from all over,” she said.
