EUNICE–On Wednesday, June 1, 2022, Hayward Johnwell, Jr, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away at the Opelousas General Hospital at the age of 78. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15 ,2022, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice.

Here at the LSU AgCenter, we choose new Louisiana Super Plant selections each fall and spring. Usually, only a particular cultivar or variety of a plant receives this prestigious designation. But this year, we couldn’t pick just one.

Gov. pushes university faculty pay higher with veto pen

Gov. John Bel Edwards has used his veto power to give higher education faculty a larger pay raise than the one legislators approved last month. Edwards restored funding for the LSU, Southern University and the University of Louisiana systems by a total of $8.7 million.
