LAFAYTTE — The National Science Foundation is impressed with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s use of satellite imagery from space for research, outreach and, yes, even art exhibits. It’s why the NSF has awarded a $364,874 grant to UL Lafayette’s Regional Application Center.

Mardi Gras Run learned from last year

This year’s Le Vieux Mardi Gras de Cajun Mardi Gras Run learned a lesson from the 2021 icy, chilled and Covid-threatened run. Capitaine Pat Frey said last year’s run had about 50 participants, two trailers and two horses. Lundi Gras brought temperatures in the teens laced with ice and snow.

Decision time for school building plan

St. Landry Parish School Board members were told they need to decide on a final building plan for a March election. Lyn Kenley, construction consultant with Volker Inc., updated the Board at Buildings, Lands and Sites Committee meeting on Monday.
