LSU AgCenter program strives to increase physical activity among residents

Louisiana is one of the states with the highest levels of physical inactivity among adults, according to a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Stephenson Technologies Corporation (STC) hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Joint Cyber Range and Training Center on the Water Campus in Baton Rouge on Feb. 1.

Former police officer sentenced

A former Crowley and Lake Arthur Police officer was sentenced Tuesday to 40 years in prison. Damon Broussard’s crime is molesting a young child. His sentence comes nine years after charges were initially brought against him. He was found guilty in November of 2021.

Shoring up your shoreline

Water is Louisiana’s most abundant resource, with more than 40,000 linear miles of rivers, streams and bayous and 400 miles of coastline, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. In addition to our many water bodies, Louisiana is no stranger to the rain.

School Board settles on 4 new K-4 schools in tax proposal

The St. Landry Parish School Board in an 8-4 voted for a school plan that will build four kindergarten to fourth grade schools if a tax proposal passes on March 26. The sticking point to a unanimous consent was on whether to build two K-4 schools in the Beau Chene High School zone.
