Sales tax collections off to strong start in Jan.

St. Landry Parish sales tax collections started the year off on a strong note with the January collections totaling $8,525,245, up 8% over the January 2021 total. The parish’s January collections were up $1,475,297 or 21% over the December total. The trend continues from the yearly total.

Sibyl Stark Young

Sibyl Stark Young of Pearland, Texas passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, January 5, 2022 at the age of 99. Sibyl was born August 20, 1922 at home in rural Acadia Parish Louisiana. She lived a long life dedicated to her passion to be of service for her Lord, family, and friends.

EUNICE–It is with heavy hearts that the family of John “Ricky” Gorley announces his passing on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at his home in Kingwood, Texas at the age of 64. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice.

Crowley man arrested on multiple domestic violence charges

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s investigators have arrested a Crowley man on multiple domestic violence and cruelty to a child charges.

St. Landry Parish President issues burn ban

St. Landry Parish Government has issued a burn ban in the parish effective Monday. The ban includes anything with an open flame that produces an ember. The wind can carry floating embers away from the original fire and start a spot fire.
