The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. December 10-13 Ashley Gaynell Hawkins, 32, 1600 block of W. Peach Avenue, Eunice. Aggravated second degree battery. Arrested by Eunice Police. Joshua Allen Carpenter, 37, 400 block of Highway 748, Washington.

Eunice street tax vote passes overwhelmingly

Only about 5% of the eligible voters cast ballots in Saturday’s election, but 79% of them approved a 5-mill, 10-year property tax for street maintenance. Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot said, “I’m very thankful with the results of the election.

Sherald Lynn Reeves Smith passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the age of 78. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Eunice with Pastor Brent Shoalmire officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Paul Mausoleum.

Hilda Hundley Welch passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the age of 95. No Services have been planned at this time. Hilda is survived by one daughter, Lynne Welch; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
