Fire destroys rural Eunice house

A fire destroyed a house at 227 McManus Road at 11:40 a.m. Sunday. The home, located in Acadia Parish off of La. 13 South of Eunice, was determined a total loss. The cause of the fire was ruled undetermined, and no injuries. The home owners were not home at the time of the fire.

Auditor: City finances are healthy

The city’ finances are healthy with a cash balance at the end of the audit year of about $900,000, said auditor Shirley Vigé Jr. at Tuesday’s Board of Aldermen meeting.

Suspect pleads guilty in shooting death

A suspect in the shooting death of Bethany Walters pleaded guilty to negligent homicide on Monday, according to a news release from St. Landry Parish District Attorney Chad Pitre. Pitre said Michael Guillory was charged with second-degree murder of Walters, who died of a gunshot wound on Jan.
