‘Mrs. Coach’ named Teacher of the Year at Eunice High

Eunice High School named its Teacher of the Year. Misty Guillory, affectionately known as “Mrs. Coach” by students, faculty and staff, received the honor.
Guillory has completed 17 years of teaching and has been on the Eunice High staff since 2009. Guillory is the lead special education teacher.

Football icon Drew Brees certainly deserves all the accolades he has received on the playing field. But now he’s become a huckster for a new gambling casino in Slidell on the Mississippi-Louisiana state line.

In the dead of winter, when snow piles high in Moncton and Shediac and other places in old Acadie, I sometimes think that Governor Charles Lawrence, who plotted their exile, may have done the Acadians a backhanded favor by sending them to warmer climes.

Superintendent’s evaluation score down, still proficient

St. Landry Parish School Superintendent Patrick Jenkins rated Proficient in his annual evaluation by School Board members at Thursday’s meeting.
