Tips sought on Church Point shooting

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 200 block of Edmonia Drive near Church Point at about 1:30 p.m. Nov. 25.
The suspect’s vehicle was captured on video surveillance as shots were being fired at an individual as he exited his vehicle.

Second Harvest plans to have a mobile fresh food market in Eunice starting on Dec. 14 at the Southeast Community Center.
“I just think this is a really good thing for the people of Eunice right now,” said Alderwoman Connie Thibodeaux, who sought the mobile market.

Early voting continues through Saturday

Early voting for the Dec. 11 Eunice election continues through Saturday at the Eunice Municipal Complex for a tax renewal election.
Early voting also will be held at the registrar’s office, 118 S. Court St., Opelousas, Suite 114.
Early voting hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6 pm. each day.

Mayor: Essential street tax up for renewal

A 5-mill, 10-year property tax for street maintenance is for renewal in an election scheduled Dec. 11.
Through Tuesday, 64 people have cast early votes — 42 in person — in the tax election. Early voting began Nov. 27 and ends Saturday.
