First annual Church Jambalaya Cook off

The first annual Church Jambalaya Cook-Off was held Saturday on the grounds and pavilion at the Northwest Community Center. The Church Cook-off is a non-profit organization that was created to bring churches and surrounding communities together for a fun-filled day for everyone of all ages.

Sen. Cassidy extols bipartisan infrastructure bill impact

U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy came to town with a message about how the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is impacting Louisiana.
Cassidy stressed the legislation was a bipartisan effort. The infrastructure bill passed the Senate with 19 Republican votes.
“What it does is it catches us up to where we absolutely should already be, but we are not, and then it prepares our economy for where the economy is going nationwide and worldwide,” he said at the Eunice Rotary Club meeting on Wednesday

2023 Martin Luther King Jr. celebration

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. faced ostracism and criticism as he became a Civil Rights icon, but he pressed on with his mission, said Bishop Brian Stevens, of Faith Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Abbeville.
The Eunice native was the speaker at the 36th annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration held at New Zion Baptist Church, 251 Nimitz St.
