Honoring first responders

Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Eunice treated first responders to a free barbecue plate lunch Thursday from 11 until 1 p.m. in remembrance of the Sept. 11, 2001 response to the terrorist attack on the United States.

St. Landry Parish TRIAD held in Eunice

Hundreds of seniors attended the TRIAD Workshop held Wednesday in Eunice at the VFW Post 8971 Hall.
The St. Landry Parish Sheriff Office sponsors a TRIAD Workshop geared to help, guide and aide seniors in the community. TRIAD is geared to seniors 60 years old and older.
TRIAD is an agreement between the National Sheriff’s Association, International Association of Chiefs of Police and the American Association of Retired Persons. It was implemented to protect our senior citizens through activities that inform them of the latest fraud and scam’s tactics.

U.S. Rep. Cleo Fields urges universal Head Start at town hall

Universal Head Start starting for 2-year-olds would help produce productive citizens, said U.S. Rep. Cleo Fields at a town hall on Tuesday at the Eunice City Hall.
“When you hear about this bill, you will say, oh, Cleo, that costs too much. Same thing my colleagues say,” he said to a capacity crowd in the Eunice Council Chamber
