After Hurricane Laura ripped through Louisiana, twisting trees and downing timber, large-scale assessments of the damage the storm caused to the timber industry are just beginning. Early reports indicate that losses will be extensive.

Tips sought about Eunice shooting

Detective Corina Schexneider of the Eunice Police Department returned to Crime Stoppers and needs the public’s help in solving a shooting in the city of Eunice. Officers were dispatched to shots being fired on Benoit Street at about 11:30 p.m. Aug. 20.

Police: Brother killed brother

A brother shot his brother dead in an apartment in the 800 block of South Beulah Street on Tuesday, according to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot.
