Parents and caregivers of children need to inform themselves and prepare for a new Louisiana child safety seat law that goes into effect today, the executive director of the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission said.

Police: Brother killed brother

A Church Point man has been accused of murder in the fatal shooting of his brother here Friday morning. Elvin Moore, 65, of Church Point, was arrested by the Church Point Police on a charge of second-degree murder. According to a news release from the Church Point Police, about 4 a.m.
