Crash kills Basile man on U.S. 190

Maritan Romero, 56, of Basile, died after the moped he was driving was involved in a crash with a car on U.S. 190 near LA 3068 in Evangeline Parish at about 10 p.m. Jan. 1, according to a Louisiana State Police Troop I news release.   Romero was traveling west in the right lane on U.S.

Arnaudville caregiver arrested for cruelty to juveniles

Fire destroys house

As a wind-packed storm swept through Eunice, fire destroyed a house at 3594 Highway 190 East on Thursday. Eunice Fire Chief Michael Arnold said in an email, “Brennon LeJeune is the homeowner. No one was home at the time of the fire and the cause is undetermined.
