Our office is being inundated with complaints of counterfeit money. Most of the complaints are coming from local truck stop casinos and are in all denominations. Our detectives are working several cases where even the marking pen and counters do not detect them.

Juveniles arrested in school threats

\Two juveniles were charged with school threats in separate incidents at Eunice Junior High School, according to Eunice Police. A 15-year-old was charged with terrorizing and a 13-year-old is charged with ungovernable juvenile, assault on a school teacher and simple criminal damage to property.

Trahan pleads ‘no contest’ to theft, exploitation charges

Maxine Trahan, the former spokeswoman for the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office, pleaded no contest Thursday to felony charges. Before District Judge Marilyn Castle, Trahan pleaded no contest to one count of felony theft and one count of exploitation of the infirmed.

Teen indicted on attempted second-degree murder charge

An Acadia Parish teen has been indicted on attempted second-degree murder charges. The Acadia Parish Grand Jury met earlier this month and indicted Joseph Robbins, 16 years of age. Robbins’ indictment means that he will be tried as an adult, according to Sheriff K.P. Gibson.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Feb. 23 Stephen Anthony Romar, 32, 200 block of Veazie Street, Palmetto. Attempt home invasion. Christopher Kelvin Gaines, 22, 700 block of East Madison Street, Opelousas. Domestic abuse aggravated assault.

Eunice Police arrests

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. Feb. 22 Vincent Gallow, 26, 300 block of Ulysee, Eunice. Two counts of theft. Juvenile, 15, Eunice. Terrorizing. Juvenile, 13, Eunice. Ungovernable juvenile, assault on a school teacher and simple criminal damage to property.

The following is an arrest reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Feb. 22 Christopher Trent Vidrine, 37, 1300 block of Statesman Road, Opelousas. Bench warrant; domestic abuse battery; possession of schedule II drugs.
