LSUE forum features local women in ‘Courageous Conversations’

LSU Eunice is set to hold another edition of its “Courageous Conversations” series at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Science Building Auditorium. The forum will be dedicated to Women’s History Month with the discussion entitled “Honoring Courageous Women In Our Local Community.

LSUE Chancellor’s List released

LSU Eunice recognizes 354 students who excelled in the Fall 2020 Semester with the honor of being named to the Chancellor’s List. To be eligible, students must have full-time status and maintain at least a 3.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale during the semester.

LSUE holds socially distanced December graduation ceremonies

LSU Eunice held graduation ceremonies Friday in the newly named Mumphrey Center that practiced social distancing. Morning and afternoon ceremonies were held to reduce the size of each crowd. Chancellor Nancee Sorenson said LSUE showed the LSU system in August how to conduct an in-person ceremony.

LSU Board OKs naming building in honor of Mumphrey

The LSU Board of Regents approved renaming the Acadian Center to the Dr. Anthony Mumphrey Center at its monthly meeting Friday. The building will now honor Dr. Anthony Mumphrey, the first chancellor of LSU Eunice and one of its earliest champions.

The Acadian Center on the LSU Eunice campus is to be renamed in honor of the first chancellor, Dr. Anthony Mumphrey. The renaming request is to be presented at the LSU Board of Supervisors meeting in December.

Scholarship honors former LSUE employee Gallow

The LSU Board of Supervisors approved an endowed scholarship to honor former LSUE employee Clifton “Slim” Gallow at its recent meeting on Oct. 23. The scholarship aims for LSU Eunice minority students in the St. Landry or St. Martin Parish students majoring in S.T.E.M.

Election Day will be a holiday at LSUE

LSU Eunice’s Student Government Association (SGA) approved a resolution to make Election Day, Nov. 3, a holiday on the Academic Calendar. LSUE Chancellor Dr. Nancee Sorenson ratified the resolution and it passed in the last Faculty Senate meeting.
