Man dies after he falls into rice bin

Shortly after 4 pm Wednesday, deputies responded to the Faulk Road and Benton Road area regarding a farming accident. According to the initial investigation, farmers where working in the rice bins when an individual working fell into the bin which contained rice.

Suspect sought in Iota burglary

Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish needs the public’s help to solve a crime. Iota Police are investigating a residential burglary which occurred on Aug. 13 in the 200 block of Doucet Street. Two suspects kicked in the back door of the residence.

The Crowley Police Department is investigating theft a 54” zero turn Husqvarna lawn mower with a Kawasaki engine, a 28” fleur des lis wood rocker and an Aspen fleur de lis wood rocker that occurred at about 9:15 p.m. Monday from Stine located at 235 Odd Fellows Road.

Sheriff: Man with repeat DWIs suspected in fatal hit and run

A man, who has been charged with DWI on five separate occasions and was under suspension from a previous DWI, has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit and run that occurred near Rayne on Sunday. Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P.

Acadia Parish Sheriff announces drug arrests

Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson announced 10 drug arrests. They are: Jacob Ritter, 18, Evangeline. Citation for simple possession of marijuana. Luke James Mire, 17, Egan. Illegal carry of weapon with controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Sheriff: Church Point man flees traffic stop, wrecks, now faces beaucoup charges

Shortly before midnight Wednesday, Acadia Parish Sheriff’s deputies stopped Allen Savoy, 27, of Church Point, but he fled, Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson said in a news release. Savoy next wrecked his vehicle as he fled and deputies were able to take him into custody, Gibson said.

Church Point man charged with armed robbery

A 20-year-old Church Point man has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of farm workers Thursday on Maggie Lane near Church Point. Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson identified the man as Zachary Daigle, 20, of Church Point.

For the past 10 months, the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office has been making changes that serve the public and the deputy’s needs, Sheriff KP Gibson said in a news release. One of the adjustments has been the SWAT team.

Acadia sheriff releases annual report

During Acadia Parish Sheriff KP Gibson’s campaign, one of his promises was to make the parish’s top law enforcement agency transparent for the citizens they are paid to protect. The release of office’s 2016 Annual Report is the most recent effort that suggests that he intends to do just that.
