Vanderbilt fighting for respect

This is the second of SEC football preview series:
Vanderbilt made it to a bowl game in 2016 and Commodore fans are expecting the same this season.
Derek Mason’s third year was a thriller for Vanderbilt by beating Georgia, Ole Miss and Tennessee and qualifying for the Independence Bowl.
But their high hopes may come crashing down as the experts are predicting a 4-8 finish.
The Commodores have a win probablity of more than 50 percent in four games: at Middle Tennessee (75.7), Alabama A@M (99.8) and Western Kentucky (81.1) and SEC foe Missouri (54.0).

Missouri looking to improve

This is the first of SEC football preview series:
Missouri is known as the “show me” state and the Zou fans are hoping the football team shows improvement.
The Tigers made it to the SEC title game in 2013 and 2014.
Missouri went 11–1 in the 2013 regular season and their first-ever SEC Eastern Division title.
After a loss to Auburn in the SEC Championship game, the Tigers beat Oklahoma State 41-31 in Cotton Bowl Classic.

Does God care who wins the game?

In my career as a sportswriter, I have been privileged to meet a lot of athletes, coaches and parents.
I have written stories that included men and women of integrity and other I wouldn’t trust with my house keys.
I have read books written by athletes with character and others who served prison terms.
Tim Tebow uses his athletic platform to express his faith and love for Jesus Christ.
The sight of Tebow on one knee praying became a phenomenon in itself being dubbed “Tebowing”.

LSUE opens 4-1 in Island tourney

GALVESTON – The top-ranked LSU Eunice softball team finished the Galveston Island Invitational tournament with a 4-1 record after knocking off Kilgore, Snead and Baton Rouge om Saturday.
LSUE opened the tournament Friday with a 6-3 win over the University of Houston-Victoria, then fell to Tyler Junior College 7-13.
In Saturday's games, the Lady Bengals defeated Kilgore 15-6, Snead 10-8 and survived a late rally by Baton Rouge in a 12-10 win.
In game one of the tournament, Abigail Leonards (Iota) picked up the win, facing 23 batters and striking out four.
