Hands-on math learning at St. Edmund

Katie Cormier’s middle school students at St. Edmund used a hands-on math approach which allows them to learn through a concrete learning experience before they are exposed to more of the abstract learning that takes place when students solve equations.

Dual Blake Marcantel and Kaylyn Mariah Poncho of Eunice announce the birth of their daughter, Kaizley Jaquelyn Deon Poncho, born at Acadian Medical Center on April 14 weighing 7 pounds and 10.8 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Bradley Poncho and Kayla Battise.

Liv Sinclair

Logan Sinclair of Oakdale and Lexis Sharp of Sugartown announce the birth of their daughter, Liv Presley Sinclair, born at Acadian Medical Center on April 21 weighing 7 pounds and 10 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Amanda Bartlett and Dexter Bartlett of Sugartown.

E’Arlynn Williams

Nadreshia Prudhomme and Eric Williams of Eunice announce the birth of their daughter, E’Arlynn Dawn Williams, born at Acadian Medical Center on April 21 weighing 6 pounds and 15.2 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Pauline Guillory of Eunice and John Prudhomme of Eunice.

Attention all graduating seniors

Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser at Rotary Club meeting

Rotary Club speaker Wednesday was Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser. Nungesser spoke about Louisiana’s Tourism, its opportunities, its progress, and its future for the state and its people. Nungesser also walked downtown 2nd Street to the Liberty Theatre.

Student of the Year at Iota

Avery Brown was selected as the 2021 Fifth Grade Student of the Year at Iota Elementary School. Avery is the daughter of Michael and Hope Brown of Eunice.

Iota Elementary Teacher and Supporter of Year

Iota Elementary selected Shelley Frey as the 2021 Iota Elementary Teacher of the Year and Alisha Thibodeaux as Support Person of the Year. Frey teaches kindergarten.
