Food help continues

Vehicles lined up at 251 Nimitz St. in front of New Zion Baptist Church on Thursday to receive free seven day lunches and breakfasts for school children. Every Thursday from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. The Three O’Clock Project meals distribution provides boxed meals and a gallon milk to families.

Splash pads reopened

The splash pads in Eunice, one at Fairgrounds, and the other located at the dead end on Duck Street, on the back north side of Central Middle School, opened last week. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. At noon Wednesday several children were having fun in the water.

June is National Pollinator Month

June 22 through 28 is National Pollinator Week, and the focus is “Pollinators, Plants, People, Planet,” according to www.pollinator.org. This not-so-well-known celebration was declared 13 years ago when the U.S. Senate designated the third week in June as “National Pollinator Week.

Children's Sensory Garden coming soon

Coming soon, as an extension to the Eunice Community Gardens, will be a Children’s Sensory Garden. It is currently in the beginning stages. The Children’s Sensory Garden will be designed and focused for children with special needs.
