National Garden Week

Mayor Scott Fontenot signed a proclamation Tuesday declaring the week of June 7-13 as National Garden Week. The Eunice Bulb & Blossom Garden Club members and officers gathered around the mayor’s desk for the official signature on the proclamation.

Birth Announcements

Jhett Barnard Ben and Chelsea Barnard of Eunice announce the birth of their son, Jhett Tarpley Barnard, born at Acadian Medical Center on May 22 weighing 7 pounds and 12 ounces. Maternal grandparents are the late Jerry Dickens and Angela and Kenneth Gallow of Oberlin.

The history of Flag Day

Flag Day honors the Stars and Stripes, a symbol of the great American nation. According to Newspaper Metro, the American flag is a symbol of the country’s history, pride and success in overcoming political oppression.

In memory of Dr. Ray Robicheaux

The St. Thomas More’s garden plot at the Eunice Community Gardens dedicated their vegetable garden in memory of Dr. Ray Robicheaux. A retired Math professor at LSUE and an avid gardener, especially vegetable gardener, it seemed fitting to name the garden in memory of Robicheaux.

Pre-kindergarten graduation

Glendale Elementary held a not-so-traditional pre-kindergarten graduation on May 19. Pre-k teachers, Natisha Gil, Katie Richard, Wendy Nugent and Brandi Thompson lined the driveway, as pre-k students and their families drove through for a special graduation parade.
