St Edmund freshmen keeps the tradition

St. Edmund High freshmen guys’ heads were shaved keeping with tradition. This year funds were donated to shave and be shaved with all donations given to MD Anderson in honor of Harry Summerlin. This tradition is sponsored by St. Edmund senior football mothers.

Sigma Phi chapter sells pins

The Xi Beta Theta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phil held their Beginning Day gathering at the Keller House in Eunice recently. The Beta Sigma Phi members plan to sell “Miss Eunice” pins for the city’s Quasquicentennial Celebration to be held Saturday, Sept. 14.

‘No Wait’ winner at East

Congratulations to Aubrei Guillory, a fourth grader at East Elementary. She is the winner of East Elementary’s “No Wait” car line raffle winner. The No Wait raffle is a reward incentive, designed each quarter where parents can purchase raffle tickets.

Class Act Student of the Week

This week’s Student of the Week is Megan Fontenot, a senior at Eunice High School. Her mother is Paula Fontenot. If you had to live in another part of the world, where would you want to live and why? I would like to live in Tennessee, because of the scenery shows God’s beautiful creations.

Tennessee takes first place at 4-H seafood cook-off

NEW ORLEANS — A Tennessee team’s flounder with seafood dressing placed first at the ninth annual Great American Seafood Cook-Off: 4-H Edition in New Orleans on Aug. 4.

Landry at Liberty Saturday

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center at 6 p.m. will have a performance by Ray Landry & The Vermillionville Ramblers. Admission is $5. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Starting at 10 a.m.

Braxton Fruge Cortez Fruge and Rebekah Clark of Ville Platte announce the birth of their son, Braxton Jamar Fruge, born at Acadian Medical Center on Aug. 22 weighing 7 pounds and 12 ounces. Grandparents are Joann Clark, Cynthia Fruge of Ville Platte; and Roger Dale Clark Jr. of Pitkin.

The health benefits of carrots

Carrots are a great source of various vitamins and minerals. I wish I liked eating carrots, because I’m guilty of eating the wrong kind of snacks. Let me stand corrected, I will eat baby carrots dipped into a lot of Ranch dressing.
