More than 1,100 students across a 10-parish region in central Louisiana got to hold a live alligator, see cotton ginned and learn the importance of proper handwashing during a trip through AgMagic, the LSU AgCenter agricultural-themed exhibit.

Picou’s Drug Store begins new chapter in its 120-year-old history

Picou’s Drug Store in Eunice has opened a new chapter in its 120-year-old history. The drug store at 260 N. 2nd St. has changed ownership. Robby Chachere, who has been the pharmacist for the past 44 years and owner for 20 years, transfered ownership on Nov.

Concealed Carry permit class Dec. 2 The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a one day concealed carry permit training class beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 at 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice. The course fee is $100 and $8 for a spouse or renewal.

Blanchard wins District 13 Council seat, Eunice hotel tax passes

Ernest “Ernie” Blanchard won the St. Landry Parish Council District 13 seat with 55% of the 810 votes cast in Saturday’s voting. Blanchard, a former Eunice alderman, received 442 votes, according to geauxvote.com, the state Secretary of State’s election website.

Ordinances filled Parish Council’s time

There were 16 ordinances on the table at the St. Landry Parish Council met on Wednesday. Not all of the ordinances were addressed, but there was enough to fill about and 90 minutes of hearing time. Ten ordinances were introduced and another five were passed.
