Tri-Parish UL Lafayette grads listed

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette conferred 353 degrees during its Summer 2023 Commencement on Friday at the Cajundome, marking the end of a remarkable academic year. Those 353 degrees represent a record – they match the most ever awarded during a summer Commencement.

Parish sales tax collections continue growth

Staff report St. Landry Parish sales tax collections totaled $54,130,916 through July, a 3.4% increase over the same period in 2022, according to statistics released by the St. Landry Parish School Board tax division.

3 qualify for vacant Eunice Parish Council seat

The first day of qualifying in St. Landry Parish ended on Tuesday with three candidates for the open District 13 Parish Council seat. Two-term Council member Coby Clavier resigned his seat citing conflicts with his job as the retail manager of the Coburn’s in Eunice. Qualifying for the Oct.

Power outage closes LSUE campus

LSU Eunice is closed on Wednesday, August 9 due to a campus wide power outage. The outage was caused after a transformer was hit early Wednesday morning during renovation work on Manuel Hall. All offices are closed until further notice.

Medicaid rep at Eunice Food Bank Wednesday Medicaid members, don’t risk losing your health coverage. There will be a Medicaid representative at the Eunice Food Bank from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday. The Food Bank is located at 2101 West Ash, in Eunice.

Voter registration drives in Eunice, Opelousas

Voter registration drives are scheduled in Eunice and Opelousas. According to Byron Stelly, parish registrar of voters, voter registration will be available as well as making changes to registration, and absentee-by-mail voting. The deadline to register or make changes in-person is Sept.

Miss Eunice Pageant scheduled for Aug. 26

The Eunice Pageant Organization, along with the city of Eunice, will present a Miss Eunice Pageant on Saturday, Aug. 26 at the Northwest Community Center. There will be different age group categories offered for titles of Miss and Mister.

Burn ban issued for St. Landry Parish

Burn ban issued for St. Landry Parish St. Landry Parish Government has issued a burn ban in the parish effective immediately. The ban includes anything with an open flame that produces an ember. The wind can carry floating embers away from the original fire and start a spot fire.
