Eunice Recreation Director Robert Johnson has issued a stark statement about the future of youth programs. Johnson has set a meeting for 6 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Northwest Community Center to discuss the future of recreation programs including baseball and softball season. “Without a change, the programs can not continue to move forward,” he stated in a news release. Sign of spring?
From left, Vivian Olivier and Nancy Carriere made history at Wednesday’s St. Landry Parish Council meeting. Olivier, of District 8, was elected Council chairwoman and Carriere, of District 2, was elected vice chairwoman. According to Council member Wayne Ardoin it is the first time both leadership positions have been held by women. This is the second time the two-term Council members have held leadership positions.
