Concealed permit class Saturday The St Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is hosting a one-day concealed carry permit training class at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice. The course is $100 and $80 for a spouse or renewal.

Auditor: City finances are healthy

The city’ finances are healthy with a cash balance at the end of the audit year of about $900,000, said auditor Shirley Vigé Jr. at Tuesday’s Board of Aldermen meeting.

School Board ponders its presidency

By Harlan Kirgan Editor OPELOUSAS There are two views about who serves as St. Landry Parish School Board president. The policy, as explained by Courtney Joiner, legal counsel, is any Board member is eligible to be elected president or vice president.

Eunice street tax vote passes overwhelmingly

Only about 5% of the eligible voters cast ballots in Saturday’s election, but 79% of them approved a 5-mill, 10-year property tax for street maintenance. Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot said, “I’m very thankful with the results of the election.

City Christmas Ornament Contest

The City of Eunice sponsored a Christmas Ornament Contest for all Eunice elementary and St. Edmund students to participate, and winners were announced Thursday.

What’s going on at the Liberty?

A love for the people, music and history of Eunice from a couple for Seattle, Washington, has been focused on the Liberty building. Paul Feavel and his wife Jean Johnson were guests at the Eunice Rotary Club meeting Wednesday. Feavel spoke about the Liberty building he purchased on Jan.

Christmas Parade rolls on Thursday

The Eunice Parade of Lights is to roll at 6 p.m. Thursday and promises to be a lighted parade event. The Eunice Parade of Lights is sponsored by the Eunice Chamber of Commerce and the Eunice Rotary Club.
