City takes action on 6 properties

The Eunice Board of Aldermen took action on six properties at its Tuesday meeting. Two properties were condemned by the Board, but the owner of one of those was given 60 days to make progress on rehabilitating it. Four other properties are headed for condemnation if the owners do not secure them.

Board backs off closed session

The Eunice Board of Aldermen backed off holding a executive session on a personnel matter at Tuesday meeting after an objection was made. Harlan Kirgan, editor of The Eunice News, said the motion to enter into a closed session needed to be more specific other than personnel.

Board OKs buying property next to Municipal Complex

The city will buy five lots next to the Eunice Municipal Complex for $46,600. Mayor Scott Fontenot said the purchase completes the city’s ownership of the block. The immediate plan is to use the southern portion of the property to park police units and get them off the road.
