Live music returns to downtown Eunice when Fall Into Downtown begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday on 2nd Street featuring Three Thirty Seven, and Horace Trahan and the Ossun Express. The event is focused on bringing the community together, said Alicia Mire, the city’s Main Street director.

New ladder truck enhances city firefighting capabilities

Most people probably don’t think about city services such as fire protection because they believe it will be there when needed. But if you live or work in the taller or larger structures in Eunice, your fire protection has been enhanced this year.

Maple Avenue project is underway

Work on La. 91 — Maple Avenue — is now in its second week after starting Oct. 6. The project on the main thoroughfare in Eunice has been years in the making, but even after contractor Prairie Construction of Opelousas was selected in February the start was stymied by weather.

Aldermen convene for rare special meeting

The Eunice Boad of Aldermen met Friday for rare special meeting to pass a resolution clearing up lines of authority concerning civil service employees. Mayor Scott Fontenot called the meeting and every Board member was present to approve the resolution.

Mayor testifies in congressional hearing on Liberty Theatre

Christmas Parade planned

Nickie Toups, a Rotarian and president of Eunice Chamber of Commerce, gave an update and details on the upcoming “Eunice Parade of Lights” at the Eunice Rotary Club Wednesday. The Eunice Chamber and Eunice Rotary will sponsor a Christmas Parade named “Eunice Parade of Lights!” to be held at 6 p.m.

CDA Rosary Prayer Rally is Saturday Court Eunice, 208, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, will hold the annual America Needs Fatima Rosary Prayer Rally on Saturday at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church’s Prayer Garden at 310 W. Vine. This event will be held regardless of weather.
