$4.6M parish debt ordinance introduced

The $4.6 million loan sought by St. Landry Parish President Jessie Bellard was introduced at a special meeting Tuesday without discussion. Parish Council member Faltrey Jolivette became the sponsor for the ordinance expected to be on the Council’s regular Sept. 17 meeting agenda.

St. Landry Parish Government is broke

The State Bond Commission told St. Landry Parish President to clarify the parish’s finances in response to a request for a $4.6 million bond issue. The commission discussion in Baton Rouge was framed by an assessment by its director, Lela Folse, that the St.
